Building Hunger-Free Communities
Second Harvest Community Food Bank saw the flaws in the traditional food bank model and sought to find a new and innovative way to be part of the solution to hunger. This forward thinking led to the birth of the Food Justice Movement. The goal of the Movement is to expand access to nutritious food in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas.

The wait is over. Fresh Start, Your Community Market is open for business. Just a few short months ago, Second Harvest began renovating its onsite pantry, Harvest House. The plan was to convert the space into a nonprofit grocery store and pantry. Today, Fresh Start stands proudly in that spot, serving thousands of Members a week.
